Interactive CD-ROM Profiles Van Gogh

Van Gogh Fans can Now Browse Fascinating, Electronic Catalog of Van Gogh's Work

Sharon, MA (May 23, 2002) -- Imagine being able to peruse the entire catalog of the world's most popular painter, at the click of a mouse.

For the first time in history, the complete works of Vincent van Gogh are at your fingertips, making it possible for you to view his vibrant sunflowers and swirling skies like never before.

Barewalls Publications has released a groundbreaking collection -- an interactive CD-ROM dedicated solely Vincent Van Gogh's fascinating work and life. Entitled Vincent van Gogh -- The Complete Works, this indispensable resource enables art fans to view all 2,200 works by Van Gogh, in vivid color, while learning about the fascinating life of the tragic Dutch painter.

Compiled by Canadian art researcher David Brooks, Vincent van Gogh --The Complete Works offers art fans and experts quality reproductions of more than 2,000 of Van Gogh's images.

"Van Gogh took his own life at age 37, after creating some of the most brilliant paintings the world has seen. The painter remains a fascinating and elusive figure to anyone who appreciates his art," said Brooks. "My standalone CD-ROM catalogue offers an indispensable learning opportunity for art historians and the general public alike."

Born in the Netherlands in 1853, Van Gogh worked as a teacher, minister and art dealer before he settled on painting at age 27. At about the same time, he discovered the work of the French Impressionists, and the tone of his work shifted from dark and brooding to the swirling, vibrant still lifes and landscapes with which we are familiar today.

"Van Gogh is one of the most popular artists of the last 150 years. It's a shame that the only other complete catalogue of his work was released 32 years ago and is out of print," said Brooks.

Vincent van Gogh -- The Complete Works is the first release for Barewalls Publications, (http://www.bwpublications.com/), which plans to introduce a series of virtual reference works on art history.

Vincent van Gogh -- The Complete Works, $45.00, is available at: http://www.barewalls.com/specials/vangoghcd.html, in stores (beginning April 2002), or from Barewalls Publications: 1-877-227-3925.
