I know a guy who had a great collection of old rock posters — stuff like Van Halen, John Lennon, Mick Jagger, Metallica, Keith Moon, Jefferson Starship. You get the picture. Most of them were vintage first editions with original signatures, so they were worth a ton of money.

Anyway, my buddy got the chance to display his posters at a convention up in Alberta last year, so he packed them in his car and headed out from Seattle. Then he got caught in a monster snowstorm. It snowed so hard and fast that he had to pull over and eventually his car got stuck and he couldn’t get out. Then the car ran out of gas and he couldn’t use the heater any more.

So he had to make a choice: Die with a one-of-a-kind rock music poster collection in the back seat or burn the posters to keep warm. He told me he cried while they burned. After he got rescued he was pretty bummed that he’d lost his collection, but then he found this website and he was able to replace the burned posters — not the originals with autographs and stuff — but at least he got the pictures (which is the main thing). And oh yeah, he’s still alive.
