Diego Rivera was a renowned painter who was born in Mexico in 1886, and he studied art in Spain, France, and Italy. He is known for his large wall works in fresco and was instrumental in establishing the Mexican Mural Renaissance. His murals adorn walls and buildings in Mexico City, San Francisco, Detroit, and New York City.

Much of Rivera's later work reflects a post-impressionistic style with basic forms and vivid colors. His favorite subjects included people, events, and locations that reflected the culture of his time. Among his most popular wall prints are "Peasants," and "The Flower Vendor." In 1929, Rivera married internationally known painter Frida Kahlo. He died in 1957.
