David Lorenz Winston is known around the world for his serene--even haunting--nature photography. He studied photography at Pennsylvania State University, and most of his work before 2005 was photographed in Pennsylvania's Delaware Valley. His work has also been inspired by people and natural landscapes in South America, India, Nepal, Tibet, Greece, and more recently, the United States Pacific Northwest, where he makes his home.
His use of muted tones and solitary scenes--with titles like Past Dreams, Quiet Woods, and Tranquility--beckon the viewer to quiet places of beauty and contemplation. His most famous and most popular print is a hushed snowscape titled Solitude.
