Putting your barely clothed body on a narrow board in the path of a 30-foot wall of water and hoping and praying that a great white shark doesn't mistake you for a seal doesn't sound like much fun. But there's obviously a powerful thrill and adrenaline rush (and other good reasons) that motivate the surfer to ride the waves. The rest of us can watch from the safety of the beach or the couch.
